Dental implants are small titanium cylinders that are surgically inserted into the bone of the jaw to replace the roots of missing teeth. Bone in the upper jaw is continually lost once teeth have been removed. Implants help to stabilize the bone. Securing your teeth with dental implants can make a world of difference. You can eat, talk, laugh and smile with confidence.
Implants can be used to replace single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth to all teeth missing.

The Procedure
Restoring the mouth with a dental implant is accomplished in two phases. The first phase is the surgical placement of the implant. It is left under the gums for several months so the bone can attach to it. After healing, the second phase begins; the implant is re-exposed, and the new crown is made. The usual time frame for healing is 3 months in the lower jaw and 6 months in the upper jaw. However if your jaw bone has good bone quantity and quality as determined by our dentists and immediate loading with the provisional teeth can done with a few days.
For the surgical placement of the implant, you will be given nitrous oxide or intravenous sedation to relax you(if you desire). Then your mouth is numbed.
An incision is made in the gums and a hole is made in the bone to receive the implant. After the implant is snugly in place, the gums are closed over the implant with a stitch or two.
The second phase starts with surgical exposure of the implant. Another incision is made in the gums and a small extension is placed to raise it above the gum line. Your dentist will then begin to create your new crown.
Though some of the steps might be different in your case, they usually include making impressions of your mouth. From these impressions, we will make precise working models of your mouth, which are carefully mounted for proper alignment. The last step is the placement of the new crown.
The success of the implant depends on the care you provide at home, and the support you receive through regular checkups and cleanings.

I don't have adequate bone for implant placement, what do I do?
You have the following options
1.For small bone defects you could go in for bone grafting with a bone block taken from a site inside the mouth.
2.For large defects you could go in for bone grafting from sites like the iliac crest, fibula etc.
3.Graftless implant solutions like All-on-four and Zygomatic implants can also be done in specific situations.
